No. You can use anything from 2.4″ to 3.0″ on our “plus” bikes. We love plus tires, and they make a lot of sense for the trails we have here on the front range and western slope of colorado. That doesn’t mean they are the best thing for every person in every situation. Our bikes ride great with any size mountain bike tire. The 2.5″ range is great for fast smooth flowy trails since it lowers the bottom bracket a bit and you run the tires firmer for more speed. The 2.6″ to 2.8″ range is great for enduro style riding and if there is mud. The 3.0″ tires will dominate on chunky technical trails or those that are very rutted out and rugged.
